Encased In Truth

This weekend the city of Memphis was covered in ice, not the best road conditions but the scenery was breathtaking. As I walked around my neighborhood awed by this kingdom of ice, I thought over what I have been learning.
I recently moved from Milwaukee W.I Down to Memphis TN this has been both exciting and terrifying. regardless it has been a huge growing experience. So as I walked past the trees completely encased in ice I began to think over my life specifically the past three years since my graduation from High School.
The single clearest lesson I have learned through my trials, errors, successes and failures is that what surrounds me is what I become. to coin a phrase "you are what you eat" through life experience and at twenty I have had a small yet flavorful taste. Its easy to see that if I want to be a useful encouraging person I have to seek out useful encouraging people, activities and places. while like anyone I enjoy a party and a drink from time to time I no longer want that to dominate my life. I don't receive anything long lasting from those nights and mostly laugh when remembering how important I once held those days. I leave you with words from a man who can articulate my feelings more eloquently than I. Mr. Ralph waldo Emerson For everything you have missed, you have gained something else, and for everything you gain, you lose something else.” So I encourage you to seek truth and to be sure that what you hold high and esteemed whether its a person or just a feeling deserves that place in your life and the time and passion it is given. This life is short live one of substance.
